~ The rate of Autism:
    20 years ago: 1 in 10,000
    5 years ago: 1 in 500
    Today: 1 in 166
    Twenty years from now: ?
    Scared yet?

~ The puzzle pattern on the ribbon reflects the mystery and complexity of Autism/Asperger's. The different colors and shapes represents the diversity of people and families living with this disorder. The brightness of this ribbon signals hope - hope through research and increasing awareness throughout the world.

~ Everyone is unique!

~ Autism and Asperger's are life long disorders.

~ Love makes Autism bareable.

~ Autism steals a child every twenty minutes.

~ Support Autism and Asperger's!!!!

   Understand
   Tell a friend
   Include
   Show your support
   Make a difference

~ Autism is four times more common in boys than girls (I'm female!)

~ Autism is not a tragedy, ignorance is the tragedy.

~ AUTISM: Unlocking the puzzle

~ Autism isn't contagious, but ignorance is!

~ Autsim affects your social abilities.

~ "Do you even know what autism is? Until you do... SHUT UP!!!!"

~ As soon as we meet a person, we make judgements about them. Just by looking at them, we can tell their age or status. And by the expression on their face or by the tone of their voice, we can immediately tell their emotions. Not everyone has this natural ability. People with Autism/Asperger's find it more difficult to read the signals most of us take for granted. As a result, they find it more difficult to communicate and interact with others.

~ "I have trouble trusting people, and really opening to someone. I don't know how to talk about my feelings."

~ I'm not weird, I'm gifted.

~ People with Autism find some things hard. Examples: It is hard for them to imagine things, make friends, can take longer to understand the things other would find easy.

~ Autism speaks. It's time to listen.

~ You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same!!

~ I'd rather be myself than someone I'm not!!

~ Just be yourself. If people don't like it, well, FUCK them.

How can autism steal a child when it was already there to begin with, standing loyally by the child as they grow?

I think of autism as a pair of glasses, not a kidnapper. It allows you to see clearly what "normal" people overlook, as well as snippets of truth, even at the cost of causing you some emotional pain. Indulging in your interests and hobbies can ease it, though, making this "curse" a gift.

I wouldn't trade my "disorder" for anything <3

true, but it also clouds what norma people have nautrally; which is socializing and the hierarchy. Though, they take many things for granted, tbh.
